SARA TRAUTERMAN grew up as a Brewster Bayside Skipper, and after graduating from Bridgewater State College, she returned to Brewster in 2021. She became involved with the team again, and competed at the 2022 Junior Olympics in Greensboro, North Carolina. After being a jumper under Mr. Hammond’s leadership for so many years, and learning under him as an assistant coach, she is thrilled to now be his successor!
JOHN HAMMOND (aka Coach Hammond, Coach, Cheese, Hamdog, and Ham & Cheese, amongst other terms of affection coined by his jumpers over time) led the Brewster Bayside Skippers for over 20 years. The amount of time, energy, heart, and soul he poured into the kids and families of the team was something he did quietly, with a smile on his face, and a twinkle in his eye (and occasionally, too, with a handful of rubber snakes to sneak into jumper’s backpacks). The impact he had on the kids he coached was evident with the overwhelming attendance at his retirement party – see photos below! We feel so grateful not only to have had his leadership for over 2 decades, but that we still see him around the gym from time to time!
